The Life Path Academy Diploma in Transformational Tarot
The full Diploma course is in two parts – Part 1: Understanding & Part 2: Mastery
The two Parts are held on separate weekends. You can take Part 2 the weekend following Part 1 if that’s convenient for you, or you can choose to wait a little longer if you prefer.
You can also choose to book each Part separately or both together (see booking options (button)), whichever suits you best.
Part 1: Understanding introduces you to the structure of the tarot to help you understand, connect with, and confidently begin working with the cards.
You’ll learn how to interpret each of the cards, both individually and when they appear in a reading, through clear explanations, practical exercises, and structured guidance to help you develop both skill and confidence.
As well as interpreting the cards, you’ll also learn how to prepare for readings, form helpful questions, and begin to turn card interpretations into a meaningful reading. The aim is not to make you a fortune teller, but to give you tools for reflection, growth and intuitive understanding — one that will support your personal and spiritual life in practical ways, and help you to help others.
These two days of face-to-face teaching on Part 1 of the Diploma in Tarot course will give you a practical foundation, hands-on experience and the opportunity to ask questions, share insights, and develop your reading skills.
Part 2: Mastery builds on these core skills, helping you to read for yourself and others with confidence, clarity and insight – deepening your experience and understanding. You’ll learn how to read fluently and fluidly, taking you beyond “basic reading” into nuanced interpretation.
You’ll explore the deeper archetypes in the Major Arcana, and the advanced suit/elemental symbolism in the Minor Arcana – the emotional, mental and spiritual layers – along with numerology and its significance in reading spreads.
You’ll understand how to work with complex spreads, including multi-card ones such as the Celtic Cross, along with creating your own custom spreads. We’ll also look at combining multiple spreads for a layered analysis – adapting them to specific questions on relationships, career, wellbeing and creativity – and using clarifier and “shadow” cards for deeper insight, along with cards from other packs and oracle decks, to discover what they can bring to a reading.
Whether you intend to read purely for yourself or want to help a wider community, the approach we’ll take is both grounded and empowering. Experience doesn’t develop overnight, but this course gives you a firm grounding – a robust foundation for you to build your own, individual intuitive practice on. With time, you will become adept and your relationship with the cards will become one of quiet trust and insight – both for yourself and for those who come to you for guidance.

Diploma in Transformational Tarot – Part 1: Understanding
This is a 2-day course, usually held on Saturday and Sunday, 10am to 4.30pm.Understanding: Day 1
A Brief History of Tarot
Understanding the origins of tarot, how the cards evolved over time, and key historical milestones including Renaissance decks, the occult revival and modern transformational tarot. We look at how tarot shifted from a game to a spiritual tool, and why this history matters for a grounded, confident practice today.
Understanding the Structure of the Tarot Deck
We take an overview of how the 78-card system is organised, looking at the Major and the Minor Arcana – their roles, similarities and differences. We also look at the suits, elements and court cards, and how the deck’s structure supports fluent tarot reading.
The Major Arcana and the Fool’s Journey
As well as understanding the keywords for each card, we look at what the Major Arcana represents – life lessons, archetypes and turning points – and how the Fool develops as the seeker and central narrative figure. We explore the symbolic progression from Card 0 to Card 21, and see how the Fool’s Journey can guide personal development.
The Minor Arcana
We approach the Minor Arcana through an understanding of everyday themes and see how it offers practical guidance, using keywords to embody the number meanings as they progress from Ace to up to Ten. We also consider the four suits and their elemental associations, and the Court Cards as people, energies and aspects of self.
Forming Questions for the Tarot
Good questions give you good answers. We look at the practical methods for asking great questions, including open vs closed questions, and how to reframe unclear or limiting questions to get to the heart of an issue. We also cover using follow-up questions to deepen insight.
Understanding: Day 2
Preparing to Read the Tarot
We look at mental preparation and setting your intention, along with practical methods for shuffling – including what to do with “jumping cards” – and ways to choose and lay out your cards for a reading.
Conducting a Reading: A Step-by-Step Guide
We consider all the steps involved in delivering a great reading, including grounding and opening the reading, choosing a spread appropriate to the question, beginning to interpret the cards both individually and together as a spread, and, finally, closing the reading with clarity and intention
Reading for Yourself and Others: Ethics, Boundaries, and Clarity
Setting clear boundaries from the start will help enormously in the future. We consider ways to stay objective when reading for yourself, how to hold space for others with respect, and how to communicate insights responsibly, while maintaining clear and ethical boundaries.
Tips for Deepening Your Practice
With these basics in place, you’ll be able to start developing your familiarity with the cards and we look at methods of doing this including journaling, reflection and regular practice. There are exercises to build confidence, working with card imagery, symbolism and intuition to begin developing your unique reading style.
Conclusion: Integrating Tarot into Daily Life
We finish Part 1 by looking at how you can bring tarot into your personal routines, using tarot as a tool for self-awareness and decision-making. We also look at long-term growth and explore how to continue learning – including what is covered in Part 2 of the Diploma course.
Diploma in Transformational Tarot – Part 2: Mastery
This is also a 2-day course, usually held on Saturday and Sunday, 10am to 4.30pm. It follows on from Part 1 of the course and builds directly on the knowledge you’ve acquired. It can be taken any time after completion of Part 1.
Why take the Mastery course?
Part 2 of the Diploma course helps you to develop mastery of your tarot skills. It builds a richer comprehension of tarot – along with appreciation of its transformative potential – and prepares you to read more deeply, intuitively and fluently, with greater understanding and confidence.
Mastery: Day 1
From Understanding to Mastery
We consider what it means to move beyond basic reading skills and develop an increased ability to deliver transformation for those who approach you for help and guidance.
Deepening Your Connection with the Deck
We look again in greater depth at card cleansing, creating sacred space and using intentional activation rituals. We’ll focus on choosing and working with multiple decks, along with understanding deck energies and personal resonance and preferences.
Symbolism, Archetypes and Numerology
We explore the deeper archetypes and symbolism in the Major Arcana, and cover advanced symbolism and numerology in the Minor Arcana including the Court Cards.
Reading With Depth
We consider how to combine card position and interpretation effectively, and how to find all the information available in both the cards and the spread – what’s there, what’s missing and what’s inherent – and what all of that adds to the reading.
Mastery: Day 2
Working with Complex Spreads
We experience working with multi-card spreads such as the Celtic Cross, and also look at creating custom spreads and adapting spreads to specific topics and requirements. We also cover using clarifier and “shadow” cards for deeper insight, and discuss reversed cards.
Storytelling and Narrative Techniques
Being able to see the main themes in a spread and connect the cards into a coherent narrative improves the flow and clarity of your reading. We look at techniques for drawing multi-layered interpretations together from spreads into a story – identifying themes, conflicts, resolutions and lessons.
Enhancing Intuition and Psychic Awareness
Throughout the Mastery course, we look at refining intuitive responses, interpreting emotional, mental and physical signals during readings, and recognizing personal blocks and mental filters, so that your readings become the unique reflection of your individual intuition.
Conclusion: Tarot for Personal Development
We finish the course by considering how tarot can be integrated into daily life to enhance and empower your personal progress:
- Setting goals for mastery and continued self-development
- Encouragement for ongoing practice
- Integrating tarot into personal growth and creativity
- Using the cards for shadow work, goal setting and self-reflection
