The Life Path Academy Beginners’ Course: Learn Tarot Naturally

Start reading from your very first session

What if you could start reading tarot before you knew all the cards?

That’s the idea behind Read • Recognise • Understand — a practical, hands-on approach to learning tarot that turns the traditional learning process on its head.

Small group, in-person one-day workshop

Bristol : Glastonbury

All materials, course manuals and a standard Rider-Waite-Smith tarot deck are provided

Instead of learning everything first and reading later, what if you could learn through actually reading tarot?

Think about learning a language.

You wouldn’t expect to memorise a dictionary first. Instead, you’d begin with a few words and sentences and start to have a simple conversation. You’d build your vocabulary as you went – listening, noticing patterns, gradually understand more.

Tarot can be learned in a similar way:

Read • Recognise • Understand

The method is simple.

READ
Use straightforward three-card spreads and a template to begin constructing meaningful readings straight away.

RECOGNISE
As you work with the cards, start noticing their imagery, patterns, themes and connections — and how their meaning fits the question you’re asking.

UNDERSTAND
Through practice, your knowledge of the cards develops naturally. They become familiar, your confidence grows, and you begin to understand tarot rather than simply memorising it.

Perhaps you’re completely new to tarot.

You’ve bought — or are thinking about buying — your first deck and would love to learn how to use it, but the sheer amount of information can feel daunting.

You can start here.

You don’t need to memorising 78 card meanings before you can begin reading.

You don’t need to be psychic.

And you don’t need any previous experience with tarot.

Perhaps you’ve already tried to learn.

You’ve read the books, learned some meanings and perhaps even done a few readings — but when the cards are actually in front of you, you find yourself wondering:

“I know what each of these cards means… but how do they fit together into a reading?”

You can start here too.

This unique workshop gives you a practical structure for turning individual cards into an actual reading, while your understanding and confidence develop through experience.

You’ll work through examples, practise several different three-card readings and learn how to use templates that you can continue using at home.

You’ll also receive a comprehensive workshop manual and a separate workbook and journal containing further spreads, templates and exercises to help you keep practising.

Because something rather lovely happens when you learn this way.

You stop trying so hard to remember what every card should mean, and start looking instead. You notice – you make connections and recognise patterns. And gradually, the cards begin to speak to you in your own way.

The templates are there to support you while you learn. They’re like training wheels – the ultimate aim isn’t to become good at filling in a template, it’s to become someone who can sit down with a question, lay out the cards and read what is there.

It’s just that, with this method, you don’t have to know everything before you begin; you just have to begin.

Read.
Recognise.
Understand.

What you’ll actually do on the course

This is a practical course. You won’t spend the day just listening to me explain about tarot, you’ll be working with the cards yourself.

You’ll learn how to:

  • ask questions that give your reading somewhere meaningful to go
  • use simple three-card spreads
  • work with easy-to-follow reading templates
  • build confidence about putting a reading into words
  • begin interpreting cards in context
  • begin to recognise patterns and connections between cards
  • develop your understanding of the Major and Minor Arcana
  • begin developing your own relationship with tarot

Along with a complimentary pack of standard Rider-Waite-Smith tarot cards, you’ll receive a comprehensive workshop manual containing all the methods, examples, exercises, templates and tarot definitions, together with a separate workbook and journal packed with spreads and templates for continued practice.

So you won’t simply leave knowing about tarot.

You’ll leave having actually read it for yourself.

What about intuition?

You don’t need to be psychic. You don’t need to have a special gift. And you don’t need to believe that tarot works in any particular way.

You simply need to be willing to look at the cards and consider what they might be showing you.

As you practise, something interesting begins to happen.

You start noticing things. Maybe a particular image catches your attention, or two cards seem to belong together, or a theme starts to emerge. You start to see connections you hadn’t noticed before.

This is where your intuition begins to develop — naturally, through familiarity, observation and experience.

Is this the right course for me?

Yes, if you’re completely new to tarot and want to learn in a practical, supportive way without first having to memorise meanings first.

Yes, if you’ve started learning tarot but would like a clearer way to turn your knowledge into actual readings.

Yes, if you’ve been trying to learn tarot for a while and want to become more fluent and confident.

And yes, if you’d simply like to discover what tarot can offer you, without necessarily wanting to become a professional reader.

You don’t need to know where you want tarot to take you.

You can start here and find out as you go.

This is just the beginning

The templates aren’t intended to be something you have to rely on forever.

Think of them as training wheels – they give you enough structure to get you moving while you develop your own understanding of the cards.

With practice, you’ll find you need them less – you’ll recognise and make connections more easily. You’ll become more confident about trusting what you see, and eventually you’ll find yourself simply looking at the cards and reading with understanding.

That’s the journey:

Read → Recognise → Understand

Because readers become readers by reading.

Ready to start?

Picture this. You’ve got a problem. Maybe it’s a dilema, maybe it’s a hurdle you can’t get over. But you’ve been round it again and again, and you still can’t see a clear way forward.
.
So you sit down with a pack of tarot cards and lay out three of them. You read them. You recognise what they’re saying. And… you understand their message.
.
But even better, you get a little gleam in your eye because you suddenly see what your next step is. Where your way forward lies.
.
And this isn’t happening in a year or two, when you’ve learnt the meanings of 78 cards – and all their reversals – It’s happening right now, from your first workshop.
